Our Gender Equality (an introduction to paired interviews)

In other words: what happens when a woman and a man work side by side?

edited by Stefano Durantini

As we mentioned a few issues ago, in this column of ours dedicated to Sustainability, the time has come to focus on a key piece of that colourful mosaic that is our Management System. Today, in fact, we’re talking about gender equality, about how valuable diversity is and how abhorrent inequality is. As always, we’ll be doing so in a way that’s not overly academic but (we hope) original and interesting…

At Euro Stampaggi, we have always sought to identify people’s ambitions, interests, aptitudes and talents, without being influenced by their experience, age, education or, of course, gender. Our aim has always been to see people fully engaged in their roles, fulfilled in carrying out their duties and working harmoniously with their colleagues and department managers.  A good way to foster this harmony is to help people appreciate just how valuable it is to work in an environment of diversity: of religion, ethnicity, background… and gender.

To confirm the positive dynamics that arise when a man and a woman work side by side, and to share these with you, we conducted some interesting joint interviews, asking both the same questions and thus comparing the male and female perspectives. Some interesting and by no means predictable insights emerged: where one is short-tempered, the other calms them down (sometimes with a hammer! or by bringing a sweet treat…) , when one is messy, the other helps them tidy up, when one is impatient, the other teaches them to wait…. And then all the ‘boys’ feel like being more polite and all the ‘girls’… more tolerant… (oops!)
